What is a homeschool lesson plan template?

A homeschool lesson plan template is a pre-made grid you fill in with your subjects and assignments, so you don't rebuild your plan from scratch every week. Instead of designing a layout or fighting with a spreadsheet, you fill in the blanks and print.

This template is organized by subject and day: each row is a subject, each column is a day of the week. That mirrors how most homeschool families actually plan — a little of each subject, every day.

How to fill in the lesson plan template

  1. Enter the student's name and the week you're planning.
  2. Keep the subjects that match your curriculum, and add or remove rows as needed.
  3. Click any cell and type the assignment, chapter, or activity for that day.
  4. Add notes or weekly goals at the bottom.
  5. Click Print / Save as PDF and choose "Save as PDF" to keep a digital copy, or print straight to paper.

Printable vs digital lesson plan templates

Printable

Print and pencil-in your week. Kids can check off work, and there's no screen time. Best when you want something physical on the wall or desk.

Digital

Type directly into the grid and save a PDF. Easy to copy forward and adjust week to week. See our digital homeschool planner for the online version.

Lesson planning tips

Plan the week, not the month — a month is hard to keep up with, and one missed day shouldn't derail your whole plan. Write in pencil or use the digital version so you can adjust.

Keep a reusable set of rows: math, reading, writing, spelling, and one rotating subject (science / history / art). Reuse the same template every week by re-printing a blank copy.
